The UP Sigma Delta Phi Alumnae Association, in ongoing collaboration with Oceana International and local government units in San Enrique, Negros Occidental, conducts mangrove planting and ecosystem assessments in a one-hectare coastal area. With the involvement of local fishermen and community organizations, the project continues to advance planting, preservation, and maintenance efforts, sustaining this long-term environmental initiative.

The project’s benefits extend beyond climate resilience. The increased marine life provides local fishermen’s wives with an additional source of income through marketable catches and related activities. As the mangrove area supports biodiversity, it has also become a bird sanctuary, attracting bird lovers and nature enthusiasts. Moreover, the site’s scenic beauty and vibrant wildlife are drawing tourists and photographers, contributing to local tourism.
